Me & the Urban Legend are having at it onstage at the Wallingford Beer & Blues Festival 2009. Paul Jobson was on Keys & Sam Kelly on drums. What a lovely festival it was. Superb photo by Wendy Auld.
Young, handsome and talented.. James Vargas kickin the proverbial Wang-Dang-Doodle @ The Famous Monday Blues @ Jongleur's Oxford, 2001. James Vargas truly is
The Sultan of the Sax!
A fantstic gig @ the Famous Monday Blues with Ms Chaka Khan, Sam Kelly and Silvio (with Paul Jobson and Winston Delgado) just out of frame :-( circa: 2004
I first met Chaka whilst openning a series of shows for her in Florida, 1977 or so.
Venice Beach, Calif, 1984. The Kushite Raiders were uprising and ascending.
This band was truly amzing! They played Root Rock music in a rub a dub style! The players were (L-R) Papa E, Antoine Richardson, Kwame Marc Cox, Cimaroon, Frizz Martin, Wadada Khufu, and me, FireBurn.
Drummer par excellence Wally Ingram and I lived next door to one another in Venice Beach in the early 80s where we worked together on a few musical projects. He ran off to tour and record with Tracey Chapman then Sheryl Crow then David Lindley among others. Photo by Jo Maddox 2008, Hyde Park. On this bill were John Mayer, Sheryl Crow and Eric Clapton
When speaking of exemplary players, There are the best and then there are the rest. Paul Jobson is the best of the best.
